Generally, there are two types of IELTS tests. 1) IELTS Academic and 2) IELTS General Training Test. The speaking and listening sections will be the same in both types, but the reading and writing sections will be different. The IELTS General Training Test is highly preferable among students.
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is a standard
English proficiency test for non-native English Language Speakers. IELTS is a leading
and preferable test for abroad, migration, study, and work. IELTS examines the student's
English Language ability on four different grounds: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and
Writing.
There are Six official IELTS test centers in Nepal and 1200 official test
centers worldwide to conduct the exam. In the context of Nepal, the British Council and
IDP host the IELTS exam
Listening is the first section of the IELTS test. Under this section, students need to answer 40 questions after listening to 4 different audios in a timeframe of 60 minutes. The questions will be in the format of short answers, multiple-choice, sentence completion, and others.
Under the Reading Section, there will be three different passages. The overall courses will be around 2000 to 2500 words. And one needs to answer 40 Questions based on those passages within 60 minutes. The Questions for the reading section are in the format of multiple-choice, sentence completion, true-false, and short answer questions.
This Section of the test covers two writing assessments for students. The first assessment will be to explain the visual content or diagram in around 150 words. In the Second assessment, a situation is given, and students need to provide their own opinion in the given case. It will be around 200 words. Sixty minutes are allocated to the writing section.
The is the last section of the exam which consist of verbal interaction with the examiner for about 10 to 20 minutes. There are three tasks in the Speaking Section. First, students need to give a description of themselves within a few minutes in. The second task will be to speak on a given topic for 1-2 minutes. One minute of preparation time is given for the second task. In the third task, students will have interaction with the examiner on a particular issue.
The IELTS score will be of 9 bands. Every section will be equated out of 9, and its average will be the final score. The score will be between 0 and 9. Zero will be the lowest, and nine will be the highest.
